REWARDING OUR LOCAL HEROES
The Runnymede Access Liaison Group (RALG) supported by Runnymede Borough Council, held an Achievement Award Evening on 15th September 2017 at The Hythe Centre, Egham.
The winners who were presented with their trophies by the Mayor, Cllr Itikhar Chaudri were:

A Group or Service serving the needs of Disabled People
RALG Inspiration Award
An organisation or individual improving access for Disabled People

Jonathan Fisher Family Carers Award
An individual who cares for a family member
In rather “grey” times, let’s celebrate and reward some good things in our lives. These awards are our Local Community Oscars.
Runnymede Access Liaison Group are pleased to announce that on Monday, September 15th, His Worship The Mayor of Runnymede, Cllr Peter Waddell will be presenting trophies and merit certificates to people and organisations who have made a beneficial difference to Runnymede.
They may have overcome personal impairment or have helped make things better for Runnymede residents with an impairment. Thanks especially must go to County Cllr Mrs Yvonna Lay for financially supporting this event which we have been able to stage every two years. Surrey Disabled People's Partnership chairman Clive Wood will also bw coming along.
This year's event will be held at The Hythe Social Centre, Thorpe Lea Road, Egham (opposite Magna Carta School) Vehicle and parking off Rochester Avenue. There is a very limited amount of time remaining should you think you wish to nominate another candidate. If you have any queries, please call:- 01784 435622 for more details. Presentations will be made from 730 p.m. and once complete there will be a social buffet where you can meet the RALG committee. Proceedings should be over by 9.00 p.m.
The award categories are now listed: 1.Individual Achievement by a Disabled Person (The Charles Babbage Memorial Rosebow) This is awarded to a disabled person who has triumphed over adversity.
2.Achievement for Services to the Disabled by an Individual (The Frank Wheeler Memorial Rosebowl)
3.Achievement by Group or Service in serving the needs of Disabled People This is awarded to a group or service that have shown they have gone the extra mile to help and disabled people by providing them with support in someway which enriches or aids them during everyday life.
4.Achievement by a Runnymede Organisation or Individual for providing or improving access to buildings or services for Disabled People
5.Family Carers Award This award is given to an individual whom has made a difference to a disabled person by caring for them. This award is given in recognition for the vital support a carer gives which often doesn't get acknowledged in the community at large.
6.Special Awards These awards are given to those who have done something special which did not fit within the above categories.
